Install a Repeater

You will need to install a Repeater if one or multiple sensors have poor signal.

You must be an Administrator to install a Repeater. See User Roles for more details.

Please refer to your company’s standard operating policy and take appropriate precautions.

You need a magnetic tag (see image below) to install a Repeater. The magnetic tag could interfere with heart pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs).

If you do not have a Repeater, please contact us to order one.

We recommend that you do not connect more than 20 sensors to a Repeater to ensure optimal performance.

Step 1: Connect the Repeater to the Hub

Ensure that the Repeater is as close as possible to the Hub when completing step 9 & 14 below.

  1. Remove the Repeater from its packaging and screw on the antenna.

  2. Log in to the Control Centre.

  3. Go to Automated Monitoring Devices >View/Edit.

  4. Select the Hub you want to connect the Repeater to from the panel on the left.

  5. Click Maintenance.

  6. Click Add new device.

  7. Select Repeater from the Sensor Type dropdown menu.

  8. Click the right arrow to continue.

  9. Press a magnetic tag on the bottom left corner of the Repeater for approximately 3 seconds. You will see a flashing green Mode LED. When the Mode LED turns flashing amber, remove the magnetic tag.

  10. You will see a message on screen stating ‘New device found’. Click the right arrow to continue.

  11. Confirm that the serial number on screen matches that on that device. The serial number is located on the bottom of the device in the following format: S/N: 0000-0000-0000-0000.

  12. Click the right arrow to continue.

  13. Enter a name, for example, ‘1. Repeater in Kitchen’. Click the right arrow to continue.

  14. Press a magnetic tag on the bottom left corner of the Repeater for approximately 3 seconds. You will see a flashing green Mode LED. When the Mode LED turns flashing amber, remove the magnetic tag.

  15. You will see the signal strength on screen. Click the right arrow to continue.

If the strength is not good, move the device closer to the Hub and repeat step 14.

  1. You will see a message stating that ‘the new device has been added successfully’. Click the right arrow to complete the installation.

Step 2: Connect Sensor(s) to the Repeater

  1. Log in to the Control Centre.

  2. Go to Automated Monitoring Devices >View/Edit.

  3. Select the Hub that the Repeater is connected to.

  4. Click Maintenance.

  5. Click the 3 vertical dots on the sensor that you want to connect.

  6. Click Device Routing.

  7. Press a magnetic tag on the bottom left corner of the sensor for approximately 3 seconds. You will see a flashing green Mode LED. When the Mode LED turns flashing amber, remove the magnetic tag. You will see the sensor signal strength displayed on screen.

  8. Click the right arrow to continue.

  9. Take the Repeater to the sensor you intend to connect to it.

  10. Tap a magnetic tag on the bottom left corner of the sensor for less than 1 second. You will see a single green Mode LED flash.

If the LED on the sensor flashes amber, you have tapped it for too long. Tap the sensor again for less than 1 second.

  1. Click the right arrow to continue. You will see a message on screen stating the name of the Repeater that the sensor is routing through.

If you were unable to connect the sensor to the Repeater, try again and ensure that the bottom of the Repeater is touching the sensor when completing step 10.

  1. Click the right arrow to complete the workflow.

If you want to connect another sensors to the Repeater, repeat steps 5- 12 above.

Step 3: Place the Repeater in Position

Do not fix the Repeater in place until step 4.

  1. Find a position to place the Repeater that is:

    • as close as possible to the sensor(s) you connected in step 2

    • within 30 metres of the Hub

    • within range of a power socket

  2. With the Repeater in position, place a magnetic tag over the bottom left corner of the device for approximately 3 seconds. You will see a flashing green Mode LED. When the LED turns flashing amber, remove the tag. When you remove the tag, the Health (heart) LED will illuminate one of three colours:

    • green: good signal strength

    • amber: moderate signal strength

    • red: poor signal strength

If the Health LED is red or amber, move the Repeater closer to the Hub, then repeat step 2 until you see a green Health LED. It may require multiple attempts to find the optimal position.

  1. Connect the power cable to the Repeater, plug it in and turn on the socket.

  2. Peel off the adhesive cover on the bottom of the Repeater mounting plate, and fix the Repeater to the surface.

  3. Position the antenna pointing upwards.
