Add a Wi-Fi Network

You will need to add a Wi-Fi network to the Hub if you get a new Wi-Fi connection on-site.

You must be an Administrator to add a Wi-Fi network. See User Roles for more details.

Please contact your company’s IT department for information on your network security settings and credentials.

  1. Log in to the Control Centre.

  2. Go to Automated Monitoring Devices >View/Edit.

  3. Select the Hub you want to edit from the panel on the left.

  4. Click Maintenance.

  5. Click Configure hub.

  6. Click Network Configuration.

  7. Click Add a new network configuration.

  8. Enter a name, for example, ‘Gershwin’s Restaurant Private Wi-Fi’.

  9. Enter a description, for example, ‘Main Wi-Fi', 'Backup Wi-Fi’, etc.

  10. In the Connection type dropdown, select Wi-Fi.

  11. Click the right arrow to continue. A list of available networks will then load.

  12. If the Hub is in range of the Wi-Fi router, select the appropriate network from the list. If the Hub is not in range of the Wi-Fi router, click Manually configure an access point, then enter the SSID (network ID).

  13. Select an option from the Wi-Fi security dropdown:

    • Open network (if your Wi-Fi network is not password protected)

    • Shared key (if your Wi-Fi network is password-protected)

    • Enterprise Authentication Protocol (if you have advanced security)

  14. (If applicable) Enter your Wi-fi password in the Passphrase field.

  15. Click the right arrow to continue.

  16. Select an option from the IP management dropdown (Please consult your IT department for instructions):

    • DHCP (recommended)

    • STATIC (if instructed by your IT department)

  17. (If applicable) If the Hub is in range of the router:

    1. Click Test Network Configuration.

    2. Wait for the test to be completed. You will see one of two messages on screen:

      • The test network configuration was successful

      • Failed to configure the network with the test configuration

    3. Click Exit Test.

If the test failed, the settings you configured in the previous steps may be incorrect or the Hub may be out of range of the router.

  1. Click the right arrow to continue.

  2. (Optional) To connect to this network, turn on the toggle that says ‘set this network configuration as the active configuration’. Do not do so unless you have successfully tested the network configuration in step 17.

  3. Click the right arrow to continue.

  4. To return to the Control Centre homepage, click Dashboard then click the Checkit icon at the top-centre of the screen.

The new network will appear at the bottom of your list of networks. If the Hub loses Internet connection, it will try to connect to the next network in the list. You can reorder this list if you want to specify the sequence of networks the Hub should connect to. See Edit Network Priority for details.
