You will need to check the signal strength of a sensor or repeater if you receive multiple service alerts indicating that the device is offline.
You must be an Administrator to view the topology report containing device signal strength.
-
Log in to the Control Centre.
-
Go to Automated Monitoring Devices>View/Edit.
-
Select the hub that the sensor or repeater is connected to.
-
Click Maintenance.
-
Click Topology. You will see a list of sensors and any repeaters connected to the hub.
-
(If applicable) Click the chevron icon to the right of a repeater to view sensors routing through it.
-
Place the Magnetic Tag on the bottom-left corner of the device and hold it there for about 3 seconds. During this time, the Mode LED should flash green, then amber. Remove the Magnetic Tag after this sequence completes.
The Magnetic Tag is a small white magnet (see image 1).
Caution: The Magnetic Tag may interfere with pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs). Keep the tag at a safe distance from such devices
-
View the signal strength on screen. You will see a percentage (e.g. 52%), and a summary (e.g. good, average, marginal, poor).
-
(Optional) For more details, click the signal icon on the device displayed on screen to view the latest, average, maximum, and minimum:
-
Strength - the general signal strength
-
Link Quality Indicator (LQI) - how good the connection is
-
Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) - how strong the signal is
-
If a sensor or repeater has poor signal strength, please ensure that:
-
Items are not blocking the signal to the hub
-
The device has not been moved
