Overview
You can add links to checks to provide users with additional information while they complete a check.
For example, you may want to link to equipment instruction manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and safety guidance.
When a user opens the check in the Checkit App, they can select the link to open the associated content.
Checkit also supports links to web pages, images and videos, although these options are only suitable for customers who use the Checkit App on their own mobile devices.
Add Links to Documents
You can add links to documents that have been uploaded to Checkit, allowing users to quickly access supporting information while completing a check.
Before creating a document link, the document must first be uploaded to the Control Centre and assigned to one or more locations. For instructions, see Documents.
-
Log in to the Control Centre.
-
Go to App Management > Checklists.
-
Select the checklist/check you want to add a link to.
-
In the Additional Check Details field, enter a file tag using the following format:
[file: filename.pdf]
You can optionally specify custom hyperlink text:
[file: filename.pdf, name: "Display text"]
Example
Please read the [file: manual_handling_guide.pdf, name: "Manual Handling Guide"] before completing this check.
The user will see:
Please read the Manual Handling Guide before completing this check.
-
Click Save.
Add Other Links
Devices provided by Checkit (including Ulefone and Motorola G75 devices) are restricted to only allow use of the Checkit App and therefore cannot open web pages or access image and video files stored outside of the app. Adding links to web pages, images and videos is only suitable for customers who use the Checkit App on their own mobile devices.
Add a Link to a Web Page
To add a link to a web page, enter the full URL in the Additional Check Details field.
For example:
https://www.example.com
The URL will be displayed as a hyperlink in the Checkit App.
Add a Link to an Image or Video
Images and videos can also be linked using a file tag:
[file: filename.ext]
Unlike Documents, images and videos are not uploaded to Checkit and are not automatically distributed to devices. Instead, the files must be manually added to every mobile device that requires access to them.
To make an image or video available:
-
Download or copy the required file to each mobile device that will use it.
-
Open a file explorer app on the device.
-
Copy the file to the following directory:
Internal Storage/Checkit
The name of the root directory may vary depending on the device and Android version in use. Do not create subfolders within the Checkit directory.
-
In the Additional Check Details field, enter a file tag using the following format:
[file: filename.ext]
You can optionally specify custom hyperlink text:
[file: filename.ext, name: "Display text"]
Example
[file: hand_washing_guide.png, name: "Hand Washing Guide"]
-
Click Save.
