Sensor Alerts

Why Are Sensor Alerts Triggered?

A sensor alert is triggered if a sensor takes a reading which contravenes the rule assigned to it.

For example, a fridge temperature sensor may be assigned a rule which triggers an alert if the temperature exceeds 8°C for more than 30 minutes. See image 1.

Who Receives Sensor Alerts?

The following people will receive a sensor alert:

  • Supervisors in the team assigned to the sensor

  • Safety Managers at the location assigned to the sensor

They will receive an email from alert@checkit.net.

They can also see the alert on Alert Status tile in the Control Centre. See image 2.

The alert LED on the Hub (and Repeater if applicable) will also flash blue.

The alert will remain in the Control Centre (even after the sensor comes back in range) until the alert is cleared.

See View, Acknowledge, & Clear Alertsfor instructions on how to manage alerts.

What Information Is Displayed in a Sensor Alert?

Sensor alerts display:

  • the rule assigned to the sensor

  • the cause of the alert (including the reading in red and acceptable range in parentheses)

  • when the alert was triggered

  • the team assigned to the sensor

  • the alert status:

    • currently alerting (still out of range)

    • stopped alerting (back in range)

See image 3.

We recommend that you do not clear a sensor alert unless the device has stopped alerting.

What Should I Do If I Receive a Sensor Alert?

If the Temperature Is Out-Of-Range

If you receive a sensor alert indicating that the temperature is out of range (see image 3):

  • ensure that the equipment:

    • door is closed

    • is connected to power

    • is not overloaded

    • is in good working order

  • follow your company procedures, for example, you may be required to dispose of food if it has exceeded / fallen below the required temperature range for a period of time

After you resolve the issue, it may take some time for the temperature to come back in range.

Once the temperature is back in range, it may take up to 15 minutes for the sensor to send data to the Control Centre and the alert status to update to stopped alerting.

If the Door Is Open

If you receive a sensor alert indicating that a door was left open (see image 4):

  • close the door

  • follow your company procedures, for example, you may be required to check that door operation and closers are functioning correctly

After you close the door, it may take up to 5 minutes for the sensor to send data to the Control Centre and the alert status to update to stopped alerting.

If the Humidity Is Out-Of-Range

If you receive a sensor alert indicating that the relative humidity is out of range (see image 5):

  • ensure that equipment such as humidifiers, dehumidifiers, heating & ventilation systems, etc.:

    • are turned on

    • are set according to the current weather conditions

    • are in good working order (you may need to change the filter, empty/refill the water tank, etc.)

  • follow your company procedures, for example, you may be required to check that items have not been damaged due to exposure to humidity

After you resolve the issue, it may take some time for humidity levels to come back in range.

Once the humidity levels are back in range, it may take up to 5 minutes for the sensor to send data to the Control Centre and the alert status to update to stopped alerting.
