New: Backfill Missing Sensor Data

If you notice missing data when viewing a sensor's readings on the CAM+ Website, you can run a backfill yourself without contacting support.

CAM+ automatically restores missing data after interruptions in communication. However, this process can take up to 48 hours to complete. The self-service backfill feature allows you to prioritise the retrieval of data for a specific sensor and date range when the data is needed urgently. It will retrieve the data within approximately 15–30 minutes.

How to Run a Backfill

You must have General Access permission for the department containing the sensor. This is the same permission required to view sensor data.

  1. While viewing a sensor's readings on the CAM+ Website, if you notice any missing data, click the Backfill button in the side menu. A new tab will open.

  2. Check the boxes on the sensor(s) that you want to backfill.

  3. Choose the date range that you want to retrieve data for.

You can select a date range of up to 6 weeks when submitting a backfill request.

You can request a backfill for data from up to 3 years ago. However, if the WARP was installed less than 3 years ago, you can only request data from the date the WARP was installed onwards.

  1. Click Analyse for Gaps.

  2. Review the results:

    • If missing data is detected, you will see a message displayed in red and the graph will show blank sections where data is unavailable.

    • If no gaps are found, no backfill is required.

    • If you selected multiple sensors, use the tabs above the graph to switch between sensors and review each one individually.

  3. Click Submit Backfill Request. You will see an estimated completion time of approximately 15–30 minutes.

Note: If the sensor or WARP is currently offline, you will see a warning message, and the backfill request cannot be processed. Resolve the connectivity issue first (see WARP Troubleshooting or Transmitter Troubleshooting as applicable), then submit the request again.

  1. Return to the sensor readings page that you opened initially. Once the backfill is complete, the missing data will appear automatically.

Automatic backfill still occurs

CAM+ automatically restores missing data after interruptions in communication. The self-service backfill feature does not replace this process. Instead, it prioritises a specific sensor and date range when the data is needed urgently.

Historical data availability

Backfill requests retrieve data directly from the WARP.

You can request a backfill for data from up to 3 years ago. However, this period may be shorter if the WARP was installed less than 3 years ago.

For example, if a WARP was installed in 2024, backfill requests can only retrieve data from 2024 onwards.

If a WARP has been replaced, any missing data from the previous WARP is automatically backfilled during the replacement process. Therefore, there will not be any missing data from before the new WARP was installed.
